The Undiscovered Corner of the Costa Brava: Empordà

Homes and truly unique experiences for (re)discovering Empordà and the Costa Brava region, like a local

Viu Empordà offers an exceptional collection of modern masterpieces, historic homes and everything in between in the beautiful Empordà - an undiscovered region within Costa Brava, north of Barcelona.

Founder Pablo Rovira, who grew up in Empordà, has discerningly assembled a collection of the area's most beautiful houses, many owned by esteemed Catalan designers, architects, and families who have a strong commitment to preserving local heritage. Some are located in the countryside, near historic villages, while others are just a stone’s throw from the sea. Tirelessly searching for genuine homes rather than the archetypal rentals, Viu Empordà homes are filled with art, tiles, and comfort. They masterfully bridge the gap between the opulence of boutique hotels and the secluded bliss of holiday rentals.

Whilst the discovery of these dwellings alone distinguishes Viu Empordà from its competitors, it's the curated experiences that utterly captivate. With Pablo's profound insight into the region, he has crafted an assortment of activities designed to delight the most seasoned traveller with local experts including craftspeople, wine sellers, historians, chefs, hikers and wildlife experts:

  • Olfactory Capture with Ernesto Collado, one of the most authentic and disruptive perfumers on the international scene of signature perfumery, guests collect and learn about the plants that give the landscape an olfactory character.

  • Guided by Iolanda Bustos, known as the flower chef, Vermouth & Walk by the Sea explores coves and coastal paths whilst learning about edible flora found in this corner of the Empordà. Post-walk, Iolanda serves an aperitif made with these plants and paired with el Xampanyet de sauco (sparkling) and vermouth (wine macerated in herbs) on the beach.

Nestled in Catalonia’s northeastern corner, Empordà, known as “Catalan Tuscany’, draws travellers for its beautiful landscapes, rich gastronomic culture, charming villages dating back to medieval times and art lovers who flock to Figueres to explore Salvador Dalí’s surreal world. Food and wine connoisseurs indulge in the region’s renowned DO Empordà wines and fresh Mediterranean cuisine, while outdoor adventurers embrace the rugged beauty of Cap de Creus and the golden beaches of the Costa Brava.
