Foraging, Feasting and Forest Bathing at Lime Wood

Surrounded by miles of ancient New Forest, Lime Wood wholly incorporates nature into its ethos - helping guests to reconnect with the natural world through activities such as woodland yoga and forest fitness sessions; all geared around encouraging mental and physical wellbeing, whilst simultaneously celebrating the forest on their doorstep.

This summer marks the introduction of foraging and forest bathing to the Lime Wood experience. Already incorporated in Lime Wood’s new creative retreat series, Re-Root, which is aimed at bringing guests back to their natural roots with workshops, events and retreats, these experiences are now available to book privately when you stay at Lime Wood.

Foraging

Whilst the sights, smells and sounds of a natural environment can help reduce stress through stimulating the senses, foraging provides a focussed and informative way to help better appreciate nature. Lime Wood’s resident forager, Sammie Longhorn, leads guided forest walks to learn about folklore, edible plants, berries and seeds talking through the best wild plants to harvest, where to find them across the seasons and how to safely prepare them to eat. New Forest treasures to be discovered across these sessions include yarrow, nettle, clover, Mugwort and St John’s Wort. The experience at Lime Wood also includes some feasting with foraged produce being cooked up into delicious nibbles and tipples such as flapjack with catkins and nettle seeds, and fresh dandelion & yarrow tea.

Forest Bathing

Forest Bathing sessions at Lime Wood are on offer as part of the retreats and privately led groups. A powerful remedy to the pressures of modern life, unwind with a forest guide, utilising the healing powers of the ancient New Forest woodlands to re-balance the mind and body. Originating in Japan, the practice is widely acclaimed as a preventive health measure - thanks to the many physical, spiritual and mental benefits such as lowering blood pressure and improved immunity.

£200 for up to 10 people for a 90 minute foraging session rooms from £495 per night -www.limewood.co.uk.
